Dear Community Partner,

OHA acknowledges our failures to meaningfully engage communities, share power and resources, and center those most impacted by health inequities in our work. We are committed to a different approach and look forward to repairing our wrong doings and rebuilding trust with organizations and communities across the state.

We would like to share several opportunities for community partners to join upcoming OHA advisory and decision-making committees.

Each committee is described at the end of this email.

The deadline for applying is January 8, 2021.  We understand that this is a busy time as many of you are working to support your community during COVID-9. If you are interested in participating in a committee but aren’t able to at this time, please reach out, we would love to discuss other opportunities for engagement.

Upcoming OHA advisory and decision-making committees:
1. Community-based organization grant advisory committee

  *   Overview: The community-based organization (CBO) grant advisory committee will provide direction on OHA funding to CBOs. The CBO grant advisory committee will also help develop policies and processes to ensure they are community focused.
  *   Time commitment: One hour monthly, beginning in January 2020 for a one-year term
  *   Compensation: CBOs participating in the advisory committee can use their OHA grant funds to pay for their time to participate.
  *   Selection process: CBOs will be selected to ensure a range of populations served, organization types and geographic regions are represented.

2. PartnerSHIP

  *   Overview: The PartnerSHIP provides oversight for implementation of Healthier Together Oregon (HTO): the 2020-2024 State Health Improvement Plan. The PartnerSHIP holds decision making authority for HTO. The overall goal of HTO is to advance health equity, through policy, system and environmental improvement in five priority areas: institutional bias, adversity, trauma and toxic stress, behavioral health, access to equitable preventive care, and economic drivers of health (for example, housing, living wage, and food insecurity). State agencies are also invited to participate in a technical assistance role.
  *   Time commitment: The PartnerSHIP will be convened from 2021-2024.  Once formed, members will determine length of commitment and frequency of meetings. Participation will require an estimated average of two hours/month.
  *   Compensation: Community partners will be compensated for their time.
  *   Selection process: A small group of external OHA advisors will review applications and determine final membership. Approximately 20 individuals will be selected to ensure representation of priority populations and potential implementers of HTO.

3. Public Health Advisory Board (PHAB), Public Health Accountability Metrics Subcommittee

  *   Overview: Public health accountability metrics<http://opha.memberclicks.net/message2/link/2ebeffaa-b89e-4792-8fd3-4a0f7a309cf2/7> are one way Oregon’s public health system demonstrates it is improving health. Public health accountability metrics provide an annual review of population health priorities for all people in Oregon. The PHAB Accountability Metrics subcommittee establishes metrics, oversees the development of an annual report and tracks the public health system’s progress toward eliminating health inequities. The PHAB Accountability Metrics subcommittee is an advisory group that report to the full board. PHAB is seeking approximately three community members to join the subcommittee.
  *   Time commitment: The PHAB Accountability Metrics Subcommittee meets annually. In 2021, the PHAB Accountability Metrics Subcommittee will meet from approximately January-August 2021 on a monthly basis for approximately 2 hours per month.
  *   Compensation: Community partners will be compensated for their time.
  *   Selection process: Approximately three members will be selected by the Public Health Advisory Board based on population, geography and organization representation.

4. Public Health Advisory Board (PHAB), Public Health Strategic Data Plan Subcommittee

  *   Overview: The Public Health Advisory Board (PHAB) Public Health Strategic Data Plan Subcommittee will develop a plan for collection, analysis and reporting public health data. This work will be grounded in community to make sure that public health data are collected, analyzed, shared and used in a way that represents community values and experience.
  *   Time commitment: The PHAB Public Health Strategic Data Plan Subcommittee will meet monthly from approximately March-December 2021 for approximately 2-3 hours per month.
  *   Compensation: Community partners will be compensated for their time.
  *   Selection process: Approximately three members will be selected by the Public Health Advisory Board based on population, geography and organization representation.
