Subject: FW: National Center for Education Statistics job opportunities

Hi everyone,

The National Center for Education Statistics is looking for recent graduates with research experience to fill multiple positions. To get the best qualified candidates, we are contacting leading research institutions and organizations to ask if you would post the job announcement on job boards or listservs that you have for your students or members.

We are seeking to hire 5 new staff to permanent government positions in the U.S. Department of Education's National Center for Education Statistics (NCES)-one of the centers in the Institute of Education Sciences. The positions will support a range of study design, data collection, and reporting activities about elementary, secondary, and postsecondary education with a heavy quantitative focus. They are a good fit for students about to complete their graduate education and for researchers with experience leading smaller research projects or parts of larger ones. The jobs will be GS-11 and GS-12 positions in our Washington, DC office with pay starting in the $69,000 - $83,000 range.

The official posting and application process will be managed through USAJobs beginning on July 29, 2019. The application process may not be open very long because it closes after we receive 75 applications so we wanted to let interested candidates know about the opportunity ahead of time.

At the end of this email, you'll find text appropriate to post or share with interested candidates. Please let us know if you have questions about the openings.

Thank you in advance and have a happy 4th of July.

Sincerely,
Chris Chapman

Associate Commissioner - Sample Surveys Division

The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) is hiring up to 5 researchers through USAJOBS starting on (fill in the date). NCES is part of the Institute of Education Sciences within the U.S. Department of Education. Staff hired into these positions will join research teams across a number of different projects, including surveys of college students about how they finance their education, annual census data collections from the nation's postsecondary institutions, an annual census gathering information about our public elementary and secondary schools and school systems, statistical standards across all of NCES operations, and report development from the full array of studies undertaken by NCES.

The positions will be permanent general schedule positions at either the GS-11 or GS-12 level with salaries starting in the $69,000 to $83,000 range with full benefits. To fill these job openings, we are seeking students who have just completed their graduate education (or will do so in the next few months) and researchers with advanced degrees who have had some experience managing research projects. Successful candidates will have a strong background in statistics. Applicants must be U.S. citizens. The positions are in the NCES Washington, DC office. The job openings will be posted at USAJOBS (https://www.usajobs.gov/) beginning on July 29, 2019 and can be found by searching for IES-2019-0018 and IES-2019-0020.

If you are interested, we urge you to open an account with USAJOBS and upload a draft resume into USAJOBS before the job openings are posted. USAJOBS will only accept the first 75 applications once the job announcement is made and the posting will close on August 19th should the limit not be reached earlier.
