GOOGLE - Retrieve Deleted Calendar Items
Intermediate
[frustrated]
Ooops! I accidentally deleted a Google calendar event that had the details I needed to attend a Zoom webinar. It's too late to email my colleague as the call starts in a few minutes. How can I get that info back?
The solution... did you know that if you delete an event (any item in your calendar) that you can retrieve it from the Trash?
Calendar content deleted is accessible for up to 30 days past the DELETION date. So, if you trashed a calendar item on September 5th, you can restore it up until October 4th.
You may not have this problem very often, but when you, this solution is a lifesaver!
How to Quickly Recover Calendar Items
If you want to view a Google Calendar item that you deleted within the last 30 days:
· At the top of your calendar, click on the Settings icon/gear and from the drop-down window and select Trash.
[google calendar settings]
· If you have more than one calendar, they will be listed on the left. Select the calendar you'd like.
· In the main section of the page, all items deleted from that calendar in the last 30 days will be displayed.
· First, check the box to the left of the item and then select one of the Restore all Selected curved arrows that are displayed (both to the right of the individual item and at the top of the list).
[restore event]
· The item will now be visible on your calendar once again. Yay!
Unfortunately, the Google Calendar app for smartphones does not have the restore option. If you're trying to reinstate a deleted event in your Google calendar, use a laptop or desktop computer and follow the steps above.

Communication: Listening
Show you're hearing what is said
If you've ever been in a tense situation with someone, and you're talking about a problem, an issue, a concern ... try this technique: repeat (or closely paraphrase) what you just heard the other person say ... before responding.
Whether you're talking to an agitated colleague, a boss or a friend, you will always gain trust, time and insight by simply repeating what was said (or asked).
Why? Because it shows you've listened. You've heard. You "understand". This makes the other individual feel more comfortable with you ... and more willing to hear what you have to say.
By the way, this technique works in casual conversations too. Try it ... you'll see!

Leadership
Want you (or your team) to get more done?
We all do, right? Procrastinate! Especially on the "hard" stuff, the big projects, the challenging ones.
Here's a trick that works every time: Think, "Can I just...?" Or, if you're talking to others, "Can you just...?"
Think in tiny increments. In this case, don't worry about the big picture and how large the complete task is.
Just find something that fills in the question: "Can you just...
· ... create the outline?"
· ... put some thoughts on post-its?"
· ... address the envelopes?"
· ... brainstorm a title?"
You get the idea!
