I had a PDF flyer for an event I wanted to share on Facebook, but there was a problem. I couldn't upload the document because Facebook doesn't recognize the PDF format ... it only uses images.



I needed to convert the PDF to a JPG or PNG.



Have you had that issue? Or, maybe you received a file from someone (or downloaded a document from the web), only to discover that you didn't have the right software to open it. For example, a colleague sends you a HEIC image (from an iPhone), but you can't view it and need it converted to a JPG.



So how do you open or convert audio, video, or picture files that are in a format that your computer does not recognize? Basically, how do you change files from one type of document to another ... quickly, easily, and safely?



You can use a solution we found online! You can quickly upload over 1200 different file types to the Zamzar server and then pick which output format you would like. For example, you may need to covert:


·    A WAV to an MP3 (sound files)
·    A MOV or AVI to an .MP4 (video files)
·    Or a PDF to a DOCX (document files)

The process is very simple. You can convert files up to 50MB in size without anything to install at the free level. And you don't need a user account so you don't have to remember any login information.

Communications: Power Word

Arouse curiosity



Have you ever needed to send a text, an email or leave a voice message, and you really wanted the other person to connect with you?



You didn't want to go into the details in the one-way communication, you wanted a face-to-face or a phone call so that you could discuss something.



Here's a great way to get people's attention and develop an eagerness to reach out to you.


·    It's using a word that always generates curiosity.


·    If it's in the subject of an email, people will open it to see what you have to say.


·    If it's a text or voice mail, they'll be more eager to set up a call or meeting.



Are you ready for this magic term?



It's the word "idea"!



EXAMPLES:



As an email subject: An idea for you



As a text message: Hey, I've got an idea. Let's talk!



As an email message, voice mail or phone call:


·    I’d like to run an idea by you, when can we talk?

Best way to use "I" (Part 2)



No one wants to be considered egocentric, right?



So we avoid using the word “I” too much in conversations. We ask others about themselves and what interests them.



But sometimes, using the of word “I” (and the other first person pronouns such as “me”, “we” and “our”) can have a powerful impact.



For instance, if you’re writing an article or giving a presentation, inserting a personal story … telling something about yourself … using the word “I” brings the reader or the audience closer to your message. Letting people into your world increases engagement.



Used sparingly, and strategically, the word “I” can be a powerful communication tool.
