Excel/G-Sheets - How to Easily Print "All On One Page"

Intermediate

[A printer on a desk with glasses on top printing a page with green charts, next to a stack of white paper. Shelves in the background.]

Have you ever sent a spreadsheet to the printer expecting it to be printed on ONE page, but a second sheet came out of the printer with only one column in it? What a waste of paper!

Sometimes you want to squish your columns and rows to have one sheet. Maybe you've got some extra data that isn't fitting on the page… it's either too wide or too long. Or maybe you don't need all of the detail up close, but a bird's eye overview.

Well, there's a quick and easy way to make sure you print everything you need on one page, essentially shrinking the content in the spreadsheet to appear as you would like it.

We'll go through these steps and look at Excel Desktop software, Excel 365 Web, and Google Sheets.

NOTE: In each platform, you make changes to the Print options. These settings may stay intact the next time you print, so be sure to check.

EXCEL (Desktop) – Print on One Page

You can adjust this function in two different ways:

1. If this is a one-time selection, you can initiate it as needed when you go to Print.

2. If you're in a situation where you use this setting most of the time, and want to set the sheet up with the default settings for printing output going forward.

Let's look at how to do both.

1. Print on One Page Occasionally in Printer Settings

[Print window showing options for scaling, including "Fit Sheet on One Page," with a highlighted red arrow pointing at it.]

Typically, you'll want to use this setting occasionally. To print to one page as needed:

· Go to File and select Print.

· Towards the bottom of the Settings option, click the down arrow under No Scaling.

· In the window that opens above it, select Fit Sheet on One Page.

· You can also choose to Fit All Columns on One Page or Fit All Rows on One Page.

· Consider changing the margins or the page orientation for the best fit.

2. Change the Default Print to One Page Setting for the Excel Worksheet.

To print all your Excel data on one page (every time):

· Go to the Page Layout tab and then in the Page Setup group, click the downward arrow.

· In the Page Setup window that opens, under Scaling choose Fit sheet: 1 page. This will shrink your entire spreadsheet to fit on a single page when printed.

· You can also use the Fit to choice to adjust the Page Wide by and Page Tall by options.

· Additionally, you can switch between portrait and landscape orientation or change the margins to make them wider.

TIP: Before printing, always use the Print Preview option to see how your data will look on a single page.

Excel 365 (WEB) - Print on One Page

When you need to adjust the pages printed in the Excel 365 web version, follow the directions outlined in #1 above for the Excel desktop option.

You can also go to Page Layout and select Page Setup, but it will lead you to the same options if you go to File, Print.

Google Sheets – Print on One Page

To print a Google Sheet on one page, there is a "Fit to page" option in the Print process.

· In your Google Sheet, select the cells you want to print, or choose to print the entire sheet.

· In the menu, go to File, then Print.

· In the Print Settings window, in the right panel, under Scale, select Fit to page.

· Depending on your content, you can also choose Fit to height or Fit to width.

· Additionally, you can adjust the print area, paper size, page orientation, and margins.

· Click Next.

· In the printer menu, select your printer and click Print.

Communication: Handle Conflict

Show you've heard before disagreeing

Think back to a recent discussion you had with someone.

Whether you're going to counter the thought, or support it, indicating that you've heard what was said, is a good thing to do.

Withholding this kind of endorsement (because you think it's obvious ... or because you think differently) is a missed opportunity.

Even when you disagree with what was said, acknowledge the fact that you've heard the statement first, before launching into how you differ. This approach will make your conversations more productive.

Examples of supportive statements, even when you disagree.

· "I hear you."
· "Well, that's an idea."
· "You bring up a good point."
