Dear Jennifer,
For almost two decades, ATALM has worked to provide professional development opportunities and create programs that recognize, celebrate, and strengthen Indigenous cultures.

We now are faced with the heartbreaking possibility of having the rug pulled out from under us, and the organizations we serve, as the Trump administration seeks to dismantle the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).

IMLS funding for the 2025 International Conference of Indigenous Archives, Libraries, and Museums (October 7-9/Cherokee, NC) is uncertain. This impacts our ability to award scholarships, provide presenter support, and cover other IMLS-funded expenses.

We are continuing to plan for the conference and are on track to announce a dynamic program on May 1st. We also are moving forward with accepting scholarships and other applications, with the understanding that financial awards are contingent on IMLS funding.

For those willing to take a leap of faith with us, here are a few important deadlines happening this week and beyond:

  * Loss of Government Funding Impact Survey<https://atalm.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=1b5fd0b3926b2a0236f0325a1&id=ba93f899e8&e=ca34d32c32> – Due Friday, April 11
  *   Scholarship Applications<https://atalm.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=1b5fd0b3926b2a0236f0325a1&id=ac09581097&e=ca34d32c32> <https://atalm.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=1b5fd0b3926b2a0236f0325a1&id=105c5c9397&e=ca34d32c32> – Due Thursday, April 10
  * Community Impact Award Nominations<https://atalm.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=1b5fd0b3926b2a0236f0325a1&id=479c577c71&e=ca34d32c32> – Due Friday, April 11
  *   Guardian Award Nominations<https://atalm.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=1b5fd0b3926b2a0236f0325a1&id=318a810f8f&e=ca34d32c32> – Due Wednesday, June 5
Again, some of these programs are contingent on receiving IMLS funding. To help ensure ATALM’s work can continue, we ask for your urgent support by contacting your Congressional representatives and urging them to protect IMLS funding. Talking points and contact information is available HERE<https://atalm.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=1b5fd0b3926b2a0236f0325a1&id=1d306a08c8&e=ca34d32c32>.

Thank you for standing with us. Together, we remain committed to honoring Indigenous knowledge, building strong institutions, and creating a sustainable future.

With strength and gratitude,

Susan Feller, President & CEO
