<p class="MsoNormal"><i>Good morning. I have been referred to you by Kelly Mix as someone who can help the Department of Revenue compliance staff get the word out regarding a new option that will be available shortly regarding tax compliance verification.
Taxpayers will be able to go online and request a determination regarding their tax status. Whether they are or are not compliant, they will receive a letter from DOR indicating their status.
<o:p></o:p></i></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><i><o:p> </o:p></i></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><i>Assuming they are compliant, the taxpayer will be able to provide the DOR letter to an agency indicating their status. If they are not compliant, they will be asked to contact DOR compliance staff to resolve any outstanding issues.
Once issues are resolved, DOR would mail a letter to the taxpayer indicating they are compliant.<o:p></o:p></i></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><i><o:p> </o:p></i></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><i>No agreement would be required between agencies, since all data is shared to or by the taxpayer and not between agencies. We already have a process in place to check anyone with a current state contract, so the goal of this program
would not be for that purpose.<o:p></o:p></i></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><i>As an example, one agency is opting to use this data before they license someone but I suspect there are many other instances this could serve as a benefit.
