I'm really happy to share that after a couple of technology hiccups, our Controller's Office Quick Vid Training Series videos are now available for viewing! We have a video of the training we held on May 13 which includes background of our objectives of this new effort along with the four videos that are separately available for viewing. We've created a new section within the SARS Training and Resources page that is just for the Quick Vids:

Greetings!

I'm thrilled to share that through a collaborative effort between SARS and SFMS, we'll be providing some new video resources for accountants! We're calling them the Controller's Office Quick Vids, with the objective being short videos that walk through a specific transaction, relying upon the R*STARS acceptance region and the DAFR 6610 and 6620 reports. As part of our launch, we've reserved the Employment Department Auditorium at 875 Union Street NE in Salem on Monday, May 13, from 9:30 am - 11:00 am to further introduce this effort, show the videos we put together so far, seek feedback, and discuss next steps. We'll have plenty of space, so there's no need to register, plus, we'll be recording it if you are unable to attend.

Given that so many agencies are affected by GASB 87 Leases we wanted to start there. Here is a list of the videos we'll be showing:


  1.  Lease commencement
  2.  Lease payment
  3.  Reduce lease liability
  4.  Amortize lease

This is just a start, and we expect to have many more, which will be available on our website. In addition to your feedback about these videos, I'd also be very interested in receiving your suggestions on which topics to cover next as part of this series.
