Indonesia is a large and diverse country that plays an important role in
the regional and international affairs. As the world’s fourth most populous
nation, the largest Muslim-majority country, and the third-largest
democracy, Indonesia has a significant influence on the political,
economic, and cultural dynamics of Southeast Asia and beyondIndonesia’s
foreign policy is guided by the principle of “free and active”, which means
that it seeks to maintain its independence and autonomy, while also
engaging in constructive cooperation with other countries and international
organizations Indonesia is a founding member of the Association of
Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and has been a key driver of regional
integration and community-building. Indonesia also participates in various
multilateral forums, such as the United Nations, the G20, the Non-Aligned
Movement, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Asia-Pacific
Economic Cooperation.
