I too thought Daina's idea was terrific! I'd lean towards the second inclination, to offer it to a library worker from under-represented backgrounds. (FWIW I'm less in favor of offering it to students, as I'd prefer to give the opportunity to existing staffers who couldn't afford to attend otherwise...)

I wonder, though, how to craft the specific scholarship language so that the offer reaches our desired applicant pool? Maybe Daina already has this figured out! I'll try to help, if need be?

We had 9 applicants, all of whom I feel are good candidates for the award. 

That leaves us with  1 scholarship remaining. I was thinking we could post a “second” scholarship eligible for those who are students or are working part-time. Or maybe for Library staff/students from underrepresented backgrounds?

I would alert our current scholarship winners first so they don’t apply again. But hopefully 1 more targeted push will get us a final scholarship recipient. 

Let me know your thoughts. I’m waiting to notify current winners until we decide how to handle the last scholarship.
