Hi Daina,
This looks good to me – thanks for your prompt action! I wasn’t sure it sounded right to say the “ORS has the opportunity to extend a scholarship…” so I added a few words; feel free to take ‘em or leave ‘em! The grammar-nut inside me would also propose inserting a comma:
Organizers for the Oregon Reference Summit has have the opportunity to extend a scholarship to a library staff member from an underrepresented background. To further our commitment to diversity and inclusion, we seek the participation of diverse library staff to attend the Oregon Reference Summit. We encourage applicants from racial, ethnic, or other underrepresented backgrounds to apply for this scholarship. This scholarship covers the full cost of registration.
Thank you again for your work on this,
Sue

Subject: [Answerland-summit] Scholarship update/scholarship for underrepresented staff
Hi everyone.
One of our scholarship recipients declined her scholarship as her work had agreed to pay for her to go. So we still have 1 remaining scholarship to fill. I am planning to send out a call for applicants from under-represented backgrounds. I am thinking a deadline of Monday May 7, and I will notify people by that Friday.
I'd appreciate any feedback about language.
After looking at ALA's Spectrum Scholarship, this is my proposed language. I will probably send this out tomorrow evening (my new employer blocks Google Drive, so I will have to do it after work).
Oregon Reference Summit has the opportunity to extend a scholarship to a library staff member from an underrepresented background. To further our commitment to diversity and inclusion we seek the participation of diverse library staff to attend the Oregon Reference Summit. We encourage applicants from racial, ethnic, or other underrepresented backgrounds to apply for this scholarship. This scholarship covers the full cost of registration.
I will change the "Tell us anything else" open ended question to this, modeled after a scholarship app at Portland State:
How has your experience as a library staff member from an underrepresented background contributed to your library and/or reference work?
Daina
