[Answerland-summit] [EXTERNAL] Re: Availability for April ORS Presents Event

I wouldn’t think of it as referring them to another conference, so much as asking them if they were interested in presenting there. It could be a wider audience and, perhaps, an opportunity to build more connections. But you are the one who has been in touch with them and certainly may have a better sense of what’s appropriate—so if that feels awkward, I think it’s fine to suggest another month instead. Maybe SSD could still co-sponsor even if it was through our event instead of OLA? (If they’re interested.)

For another month, I would think January or February might be good…just in terms of spacing out the sessions if we have one in November and one in April. I guess, the other piece is our availability to host/co-host.

Rather than refer them to a different conference to present at after we’ve already extended an invitation to ORS Presents, is there perhaps an alternate month that we would like to see if they are available for?

Have a great day!

Hi All,

My instinct would be to check with the Reference for All presenters to see if they’d be interested in presenting at OLA. If they are interested and SSD is interested, we could move ahead with that?

Then we could still have the program on neurodiversity in April…or if that seemed overwhelming, we could look at hosting it ahead of April, maybe with some tips for recognizing the upcoming neurodiversity month, depending on presenter availability, of course.

If they Reference for All presenters aren’t available for OLA, then I think we could check with both sets of presenters to see if they are open to presenting earlier in the year. Hopefully, at least one group would be available at a different time.

What do others think? It’s sort of nice to be overwhelmed with good options!

Thanks!

I just wanted to give this a bump so that we could come to a consensus regarding an April session.

Hi all,

I believe that we had talked about maybe doing the Reference for All presentation in partnership with the Support Staff Division. I talked to my co-workers, Rima Reves, who is part of SSD and they are not planning for a conference in 2025, but they might be interested in co-hosting with ORS on this topic for OLA in April. What do you all think?

Thanks,
Sara

Hi all,

I regret now that I didn't send an update sooner after our last meeting! I've been in touch with Bridget Scoles from Whitman about her session, which we'd discussed as a possibility for April to have the tie-in with neurodiversity month. That sounded like good timing to her, and she was also interested in roughly the middle of the month to avoid OLA and ACRL... That said, I got the sense that she would be able to be flexible with a different month.

I'm happy to get back in touch with her to explore other possibilities if that turns out to make the most sense.

Erica

Hi All

I have been in contact with Perlita Payne and Jamie Gilmore from Tacoma Public Library who submitted the Reference By All proposal earlier this Summer.

They have confirmed that they are still interested, and are available for April, 2025.

In order to avoid conflicts with both OLA, which is being help April 23-25, 2025, and WLA, which is being held April 10-12, 2025, their preference would be to hold this session the week of April 14th, 2025.

I wanted to check in with the entire planning team to confirm that this week works on our end, and to see if there are any dates/times that will be either most or least convenient for folks.

Please keep in mind that the two presenters are on a Tuesday – Saturday work week, so Monday, April 14th itself is not a good option.

If you could please get back to me as soon as you are able, so that I can further update the presenters, that would be great.

Have a great day!
