LivingWorks announces Dr. Phil Rodgers as Vice President of Design, Development, and Evaluation
CALGARY-LivingWorks Education Inc. is excited to announce that Dr. Phil Rodgers has joined our team as the new Vice President of Design, Development and Evaluation. Dr. Rodgers brings extensive experience in evaluating and reviewing suicide prevention initiatives, and will play a major role in shaping LivingWorks' new programs, including the upcoming suicide to Hope workshop.
Dr. Rodgers received his Doctorate in Research and Evaluation Methodology from Utah State University in 2003. Shortly afterward, he joined the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) as an evaluation scientist, where he managed the Best Practices Registry for Suicide Prevention in collaboration with the Suicide Prevention Resource Center. In this capacity, he managed a team that reviewed over 100 different suicide prevention programs while developing a thorough understanding of the elements that contribute to the success of suicide prevention programs.
Dr. Rodgers hopes to contribute to the LivingWorks' thirty-year legacy as the world's leading suicide prevention training company. "LivingWorks is known throughout the field for the quality and effectiveness of their programs," he said. "I hope to add to the high regard of LivingWorks by helping to create new programs and improving on those that are already in place."
As Vice President of Design, Development and Evaluation, Dr. Rodgers will manage the development of new programs, evaluate existing programs to ensure their effectiveness, facilitate rigorous external reviews, and engage the trainer network on matters relating to program development and evaluation.
"My immediate goals are to see suicide to Hope through the pilot and field trial phases, encourage and support rigorous evaluation of LivingWorks programs, and develop resources that will aid in the effective implementation of LivingWorks programs across multiple settings," Rodgers stated. "In the future, I would also like to see the development of programs that directly serve the needs of those with lived experience of suicide-those who have attempted suicide or have been at heightened risk."
LivingWorks is honored to have Dr. Rodgers on board. With the added benefit of his expertise and experience, the company will continue to pursue its mission of building suicide-safer communities around the world.
