<div>DeShawn Williams and Paige Hirt of Foundations Counseling & Consultation Services invite you to attend the Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) on July 20th & 21st, 2015. The ASIST workshop is for those who want to increase their skills in order to help prevent the immediate risk of suicide for youth, consumers, clients, family, friends, coworkers and community members. <br><br>Statistics outline an alarming need to increase our skills in suicide intervention: <br><br>• <em>Each year there are more than 550 Oregonians who died by suicide and more than 1800 hospitalizations due to suicide attempts. </em><br><br><em>• Suicide is the second leading cause of death among Oregonians ages 15-34, and the 9th leading cause of death among all ages in Oregon. </em><br><br><em>• On average, 75 youth aged 10 to 24 have killed themselves in this state every year during the past decade. </em><br><br><em>• Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death of college students, killing more than 1000 students every year. </em><br><br><em>• Up to 40% of college students report experiencing depression during an academic year. Parents and students, college staff and friends need to be able to distinguish the normal temporary college blues from depression and be able to identify a person at risk for suicide”. </em><br><br>The intended audience for the ASIST training may include, but is not limited to, school staff, mental health providers, medical providers, clergy, human resource personnel, law enforcement, student life workers, youth workers, family members, etc. </div>

<div>ASIST is an internationally recognized suicide prevention training program and is in the Best Practice Registry for suicide prevention. <br><br>Attached is a flyer and registration form for additional information or at our website at <a href="http://www.foundationsccs.com/" target="_blank">www.foundationsccs.com</a> .
