From jordan.hermens at state.or.us Tue Jun 30 10:41:06 2015 From: jordan.hermens at state.or.us (HERMENS Jordan) Date: Tue, 30 Jun 2015 17:41:06 +0000 Subject: [Assessment_Advisory_Committee] archiving data in Online Reporting System Message-ID: ODE is in the process of confirming the specifications of the 2015-16 Online Reporting System with AIR, and we would like your input on AIR's proposal to archive previous years' data. Currently, ORS users can access performance data going back to the 2007-08 administration. If we continue to make data through 2007-08 available through the ORS, then in 2015-16, the ORS database will need to support nine years' worth of data (2007-08 - 2015-16). AIR has raised the concern that database management issues increase as we add more data to the system. To mitigate this risk, AIR is proposing to adopt a new protocol to only display data looking back five years (including the current administration), archiving previous years' data. For example, if approved, this would mean that in 2015-16, ORS users would be able to access data from 2011-12 through the current year (2015-16). Previous years' data would still be available to districts through ODE's system should districts need to reference data from 2010-11 or earlier. To inform ODE's decision whether to approve this proposed protocol, we request your input on whether you anticipate that it will cause hardship to districts to archive data in the ORS from 2010-11 and earlier. Please provide feedback by COB this Thursday, July 3 by emailing Jordan Hermens (jordan.hermens at state.or.us). Thank you as always for your partnership, and happy 4th of July!
