[Assessment_Advisory_Committee] Support for Mac OS X 10.11

Holly and Renee,
I'm supportive of allowing this option as long as ODE is clear that schools will need to provide other options for students who need the ASL accommodation.  But like Gladstone, this doesn't apply to our district because we will not be using the Mac browser.

Subject: [Assessment_Advisory_Committee] Support for Mac OS X 10.11

Apple released Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan on September 30th, and AIR has finished its internal testing and confirmed that everything is compatible with the current Mac secure browser except for the ASL accommodation for the Smarter Balanced ELA test. Given that Mac OS X 10.11 was released after the official support date for 2015-16, AIR is currently blocking users from accessing Oregon tests on a computer that is running Mac OS X 10.11.

ODE now seeks your recommendation whether to support testing on Mac OS X 10.11, with a caveat that this operating system is not compatible with the ASL accommodation. So that we can finalize our decision and communicate to the field, we request that you please provide input to Renée LeDoux (renee.ledoux at state.or.us<mailto:renee.ledoux at state.or.us>) by noon on Monday, October 26th.
