BOLI Business Leadership Awards seeks nominations for outstanding Oregon employers
Awards will highlight civil rights, workplace fairness and skills training achievement

PORTLAND-The Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI) today announced a call for nominations for the agency's Business Leadership Awards to recognize employers for outstanding civil rights, workplace fairness and workforce development efforts.

"Our state is deeply fortunate to have great employers," said Avakian. "The BOLI Business Leadership Awards recognize those Oregon businesses that are leading the way in creating fair workplaces and a highly skilled, competitive workforce."

Oregon Labor and Industries Commissioner Brad Avakian will present awards to the winners on December 4th at the agency's annual Employment Law Conference, an event designed to help employers navigate complex state and federal regulations.

Previous BOLI Business Leadership Award winners include Intel, Mother's Bistro, Dogs for the Deaf and Hampton Affiliates.

Applicants must submit nominations by email to BOLI_BizAwards at state.or.us<mailto:BOLI_BizAwards at state.or.us> or by fax to (971) 673-0762 by 5 p.m. Monday, October 28, 2013. Nomination forms can be found on the agency's website at: www.oregon.gov/boli/<http://www.oregon.gov/boli/>.

"Our agency works to be a good partner with Oregon businesses and a resource for those seeking to understand how state and federal workplace rules apply to them," said Avakian. "The BOLI Business Awards recognize businesses that are leading by example and making a positive contribution to the communities in which they operate."

Nominees must be businesses or non-profit employers currently operating primarily within Oregon, or with headquarters in Oregon. Agency staff will determine awards based on information provided in the nomination, as well as the nominee's company size and geographic location.

Winners will receive an award plaque, complimentary admission to the Employment Law Conference (valued at $499), updated BOLI employer handbooks, and public recognition for their leadership.
