<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:black">On March 22, 2021 the Labor Commissioner received a petition requesting amendment to the Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI) Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR). Pursuant to
</span><a href="https://www.oregonlaws.org/ors/183.390">ORS 183.390</a><span style="color:black"> and
</span><a href="https://secure.sos.state.or.us/oard/viewSingleRule.action?ruleVrsnRsn=9849">OAR 137-001-0070</a><span style="color:black">
</span>petitioners request an amendment to OAR Chapter 839, Division 20 – Meal and Rest Periods.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:black">In accordance with ORS 183.390 and OAR 137-001-0070, upon receipt of a petition requesting that a rule be amended,
<b>BOLI </b></span><b>sought<span style="color:black"> public comment on the proposed amendment to the rule</span></b><span style="color:black">, specifically public comment on whether options exist for achieving the rule’s substantive goals in a way that reduces
the negative economic impact on businesses. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">There was a 30-day public comment period; the public comment closed at 5:00 pm on May 21, 2021.
