Dear Business Managers,

Many of you have asked questions regarding HB 3417 and how it will be implemented.  Specifically you want to know which weights will be assigned to charter schools and which weights will be assigned to the district as a whole.

The good news is that draft rules explaining how weights are going to be assigned have been filed with the Secretary of State.  The draft rules should be available for viewing on January 3, 2012, at the following website: http://arcweb.sos.state.or.us/pages/rules/bulletin/index.html

I encourage everyone to read the rules and provide comments.  The more information and feedback we get the better we can provide clarity on this issue.  Also this will allow us to better implement HB 3417 and meet the deadline of full implementation with the 2011-12 school year.
