In 2007, SB 1036, allows school districts to impose a tax on new construction measured by the square footage of the imrpovement with some exceptions. The Department of Revenue has recently calculated the new limits to this tax including adjusting the limits for inflation and ensuring the overall cap is met. The good news for this year is that the Department of Revenue was able to calculate the new limits for both 2013-14 and 2014-15. Hopefully this can help with some planning on the part of the school districts. Pleae review the attached document. For questions about how to use the revenue, you can contact me. For technical questions on the tax itself, itwould be best to contact the Department of Revenue.
