[Busmgrs] 2013-14 Federal Forest Fees

Dear Business Managers,

We recently learned that, despite the federal government shut down, a bill authorizing the payment of federal forest fees was passed by the U.S. Congress. So that means we will have federal forest fees for the 2013-14 school year. From the research I have been able to do, I have learned that the 2013-14 amounts will be 5% less than the 2012-13 amounts. The total gain to the statewide school funding formula will be approximately $13.6 million in revenue.

In order to properly capture this new revenue I need each and every district that receives federal forest fees to update their Estimate of Membership and Revenue collection with this new information. I have opened the collections through October 25 so plenty of time to make the updates. I am attaching a PDF that shows my estimate for each of the districts that receives federal forest fees.

Please update your collections with either this information or your own information by October 25. I would like this data to be ready to go so we can rebalance the State School Fund in November.
