Dear Business Managers,
The following message is from Pupil Transportation about a rebate to help transition from old diesel buses to clean fuel technology.
Please see the announcement below from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency about a rebate opportunity. Rebate applications are due October 30, 2015. Rebates are available for the replacement of (read scrapping of) older diesel school buses powered by any clean fuel technology ranging from $15,000 to $25,000 depending on the weight class of the bus. Rebate awards are determined randomly among eligible and complete applications submitted. Last year two Oregon school districts were successful in receiving funds under this program.
Rebates of $3,000 are also available for installation of diesel oxidation catalysts and closed crankcase ventilation systems. School districts considering this option should be aware that a diesel oxidation catalyst may not be sufficient to meet requirements outlined in ORS 468A.796 unless they can provide evidence from an Oregon Clean Diesel Service Provider (http://www.deq.state.or.us/aq/diesel/docs/certifiedList.pdf) that the bus in its normal duty cycle cannot produce sufficient exhaust temperatures to support a diesel particulate filter. See attached guidance for further information.
