[Busmgrs] Upcoming Radon Plan due date

Dear Business Managers,

We are reaching out to remind everyone that districts need to submit their radon plans to the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) by this Thursday, September 1, 2016. The good news is that there are several resources available to help with this:


*         OSBA has put a model radon plan on their website here: http://www.osba.org/News%20Center/Announcements/2016-07-18_RadonTestingPlan.aspx

Please remember the following tips when doing the radon testing:

*         Radon testing is best when people are actually in the building

*         Radon testing is best during high concentration levels (Oct-March)

*         Radon testing is best when HVAC equipment is operational

*         If you contract the testing out to a third party, it is best to use contractors certified by the National Radon Proficiency Program or the National Radon Safety Board (list of companies<http://public.health.oregon.gov/HealthyEnvironments/HealthyNeighborhoods/RadonGas/Pages/measurement.aspx>)

*         All testing needs to be done according to MALB 2014<https://www.epa.gov/radon/radon-schools#testing> standards
