[Busmgrs] 2015-16 Estimates

Dear Business Managers,

Happy Cinco de Mayo. I hope everyone is taking a moment to celebrate the occasion, but only after work... I also hope that everyone has good weather for the fun day. It appears the business manager listserv is operational again. Thus, I thought I would post a 2015-16 estimate, so I did and here they are:

May Reconciliation
The 2015-16 estimates include the latest possible updates. At this point no more updates to 2015-16 can be made. I will be starting the reconciliation process today and so these really do have to be final. I have double checked to ensure that we don't have any reporting areas like I had with the 2014-15 estimates regarding the Small High school grant and High Cost Disability Grant earlier in the week.

Common School Fund
The State Land Board approved increasing the distribution of the Common School Fund from the standard 4% to 5%. Thus, the Common School Fund will increase for 2015-16. All of this increase will be paid in the second payment of the Common School Fund which will be made July 2015. Thus, it will be larger than the January payment made earlier this year. Please note the state formula has accounted for the increased Common School Fund distribution. However, the district local revenue estimates are still based on the lower amounts distributed in January. Because the state formula has the increase already as part of the calculations the overall general purpose grant is correctly reflecting the increase. There should not be significant changes to any individual district's revenue in the reconciliation because every district will have the adjustment.

2014-15
I apologize for the reporting errors in the previous 2014-15 estimates. Revised estimates that have those reporting errors fixed will be posted today. Please note that since two estimates are being posted on the same day, you will need to refer to the year of the estimate if you have questions. We try to avoid posting multiple estimates on the same day to avoid confusion, but this time it will need to happen.

2016-17
I will be posting a 2016-17 estimate early next week. This will not be the final 2016-17 estimate before the July payment. However, it will contain all of the revisions made up to yesterday. If, after reviewing the 2016-17 estimate, you would like to make changes, please let me know next week.
