I realize that May 2019 seems like a long ways off, but if you are planning for an election, it is coming quickly. This is to remind everyone that if you would like to apply for an OSCIM Program Matching Grant for the May 2019 election, you will need to submit your long-range facility plan and facility assessments to ODE by September 1, 2018. Please send your submissions to ode.schoolfacilities at state.or.us. If your submissions are greater than 5MB in size, please use our secure file transfer protocol and use the above email address as the recipient. All submissions must meet the standards set forth in OAR 581-27-0035 and 0040 for the plans. Submissions that do not meet those standards will have very little time to fix the deficiencies so it would be good to check over the standards before submission. I'd like to pass, when pupil transportation rolled out the electronic fingerprinting there was a coding error on 3 months that it didn't grab the last day for the billing cycle. So, we had to go back and bill for those days once IT got the issue fixed. You will see those reflected in this month's fingerprint billing reductions. The previous message stated September 1, 2018, but that is a Saturday and per administrative rule the deadline is the Friday before. The actual applications cannot be submitted until we have approved the long-range plan and facility assessment. We will let you know as soon as we can whether the documents are approved. For this reason, we're doing a project to attempt to determine: 1. Whether students missing in-class time for curricular and extracurricular activities is affecting chronic absenteeism rates. 2. If students that miss time for curricular and extracurricular activities have different outcomes (dropout/graduation) from students that do not miss time for curricular and extracurricular activities. 3. If the type of absences (curricular/extracurricular/band/choir) matter in the outcome of students.
