[Busmgrs] A message from Leah Thorpe: Sign Up for Curricular and Extracurricular Student Attendance Project

Good afternoon school district business officals,

What it is
At the Oregon Department of Education sponsored Data Collection Committee meeting in February 2018, it was noted that school and district
presence/absence reporting varies throughout the state on student time spent travelling to/from
sports and extracurricular activities. For this reason, we're doing a project to attempt to determine:

1. Whether students missing in-class time for curricular and extracurricular activities is affecting
chronic absenteeism rates.
2. If students that miss time for curricular and extracurricular activities have different outcomes
(dropout/graduation) from students that do not miss time for curricular and extracurricular
activities.
3. If the type of absences (curricular/extracurricular/band/choir) matter in the outcome of
students.
