The Oregon Department of Education remains committed to the health and safety of students, staff, and community members. ODE encourages school districts to work closely with their county public health department. In the event of a local swine flu outbreak,

the Oregon Public Health Division and not the Oregon Department of Education, will determine if school closure is necessary. ODE will continue to monitor the situation and offer new information to school districts as it becomes available from the Oregon Public
