From diane.j.pietrzak at state.or.us Tue Jun 8 14:07:06 2010 From: diane.j.pietrzak at state.or.us (Diane J PIETRZAK) Date: Tue, 08 Jun 2010 14:07:06 -0700 Subject: [CAPP] CAPP 05.19.2010 Meeting Minutes & Request for June Agenda Items Message-ID: <4C0E4E89.9A13.002B.0@DHS.STATE.OR.US> NEXT CAPP MEETING IS SCHEDULED FOR JUNE 16TH AT 3 PM. Michael D*Angelo is scheduled as facilitator. We will determine whether or not we need a July meeting. Please send any agenda items to Kelly Southern. Child Abuse Prevention Partnership General Meeting Minutes May 19, 2010 Participants: Sally Joyce, UVDN; Dede Henderson; Tamara Quamme, ADAPT; Greg Henderson, Oregon Pacific Bank; Karin Hardin, Healthy Start/Family Development Center; Elizabeth Droscher, Phoenix School; Angela Collar, Battered Person*s Advocacy. Minutes: The April 21, 2010 minutes were approved as written. Treasurer*s Report: Dede Henderson reports that the account balance is $9,463.98. Review of April, 2010 Child Abuse Prevention Month Activities: ? Together We Can Be 1 Community 4 Kids: Event organization and publicity were very well done. Potential reasons for low attendance include that it was not a Chamber of Commerce event so we didn*t get the business community draw and also that we may be saturating the community with more April events than are compatible with people*s schedules. We will discuss potential ideas for a different event or approach in 2011. Greg will research whether we can have a chamber event in April, 2011 (couldn*t do it this year as a group cannot have 2 consecutive years for an event.) ? Wildlife Safari * Celebrate Children: Over 3,500 people attended the event. Twenty one high school and Casa de Belen residents volunteered which was very helpful. There were 25 programs present * the most ever! For 2011, the date is calendared on April 30th which is a different date from the Earth Day celebration. Those present agree that this should work out fine, perhaps even better for families as they will have two different family weekend activities to enjoy. Issues we want to address next year include parking and directive signs. Diane will contact Wolf Creek Job Corps to ask if their carpentry program can make sandwich boards with handles and not too heavy. Karin will talk with Dan Van Slyke about the parking issues and see if we can come up with a solution that works for all. ? Overall publicity: Marvelous! ? Photos and releases: Please send all to Elizabeth. 2011 Rotary Duck Race ? Greg advises that the corporation sponsorship group has been meeting. Tickets go on sale on July 1st. The YMCA will be more involved this year. The event is scheduled for August 28th! NEXT MEETING IS SCHEDULED FOR JUNE 16TH AT 3 PM. Michael D*Angelo is scheduled as facilitator. We will determine whether or not we need a July meeting. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Douglas County Housing and Homeless Coalition is trying to identify 1 or 2 partners to participate. ? On behalf of DCECPC and UCC, Robin VanWinkle, UCC Director of Community Education, asks if CAPP would like to assist the conference planning by taking the led to select an item or items that would be given to each registrant at the October 15 and 16 Early Childhood Care and Education Conference.
