Treasurer*s Report: Dede Henderson reported that there were no CAPP expenditures in the prior month. The CAPP balance is $9,063.98. Early Childhood Care & Education Conference Report: Elizabeth Droscher coordinated exhibit tables and did a superb job * Thank you Elizabeth! Dede Henderson and Diane Pietrzak coordinated tote bag and give away item selection for all participants * Thank you Dede and Diane! The event was sold out with 150 people registering. There were about 100 people at the evening event. The Whipple Foundation generously supported the conference which allowed for a low registration fee. Exhibitors provided door prizes. The keynote speaker, Ronald Mah, was very well received. Participants were very pleased with breakout sessions too. Mercy Foundation & Mercy Medical Center received a Catholic Charities grant for abuse prevention. They are convening a group that is facilitated by Marcia Hall, Veteran*s Administration, to assess potential community needs. Kelly Southern is attending to represent OPTIONS and agrees to also represent CAPP. She will bring any ideas or issues that our group has to the Mercy group. True Northstar Ministries www.tnsministries.com ( http://www.tnsministries.com/ )conducted an effective community outreach, *Enough is Enough.* Kelly Southern will invited True Northstar Ministries to participate in the Child Abuse Prevention Partnership. National Adoption Day Event: Barry Forte presented information regarding National Adoption Day. There was a local celebration last year and another planned for this year. Adoptive families are invited to attend through the Oregon Post Adoption Resource Center. Families have an opportunity to meet other adoptive families, enjoy a light lunch and network with one another. Karin moved and all present agreed to designate up to $300 to assist covering needs that are not otherwise donated. Barry thanked everyone and will keep receipts and submit a request for reimbursement following the event. Healthy Start Celebrates Ten Year Anniversary! Mark your calendars to attend the Monday, November 15th Open House at Healthy Start from 3 pm to 5 pm. Diane moved and Kelly seconded and the group unanimously approved a CAPP expenditure of up to $100 to assist Healthy Start in meeting costs for the event. Diane agreed to assist Karin in identifying Rotary Club Members and local supporting businesses to the event. Dede and Diane will help prepare appetizers for the event. UVDN Open House on Thursday, October 21st from 1 to 4 pm at 736 SE Jackson, Roseburg. Sally Joyce invited everyone to join UVDN at their annual open house tomorrow! Breakfast for Heroes at Phoenix School on October 23rd, $6 for adults and $4 for kids. Please contact Phoenix School for more information. Celebration for Caring at Macy*s is scheduled or Monday, November 22nd from 6 pm to 10 pm. Kelly Southern is coordinating volunteers for the event and has a few volunteer opportunities available. There are 3 volunteer shifts running between the times of 6 pm and 10 pm. If you are interested in volunteering, please call Kelly at 643-5203. Tickets for the event are $15 and are available from United Way Agencies. The agency that sells the ticket receives a check from United Way for the full amount collected for the agency.
