Parents and children appreciated the program. The overall response is positive. There were 27 sites throughout the county. At the end of the program Cat will gather statistics and share them with all. Treasurer*s Report: The current CAPP account balance is $9,163.98. Rotary Duck Race: ? The event will be held on August 28th at River Forks Park. Kathy Carter is arranging the activities and agency participation. ? Ticket sales * Corporate sponsors are running out of tickets. To date over $50,000 has been raised which is a bit behind last year. The final week before the event has traditionally raised a good amount. ? Kelly Southern and Judy Robertson are willing to help with the event. They will contact Kathy Carter. ? The YMCA is holding Family Day at Rivers Forks Park to coincide with the Duck Race Event. ? Neil Hummel, Greg Henderson, and Sue will be on KQEN radion on Monday at 12:30. ? There is discussion about next year*s Duck Race possibly being held in coordination with the Douglas County Fair. It is still in the planning stages. Early Childhood Education Conference: Agencies interested in having a table at the conference should contact Elizabeth Droscher. Diane is identifying give away items. Healthy Start Children*s Concert: The concert went well with approximately 300 * 350 people attending. Kids and families enjoyed the music and participated in dancing. Many volunteers helped with the event. Healthy Start learned a lot and plans to hold another concert next year. BPA hired 2 new staff * the Sexual Assault Volunteer Coordinator and Advocate. Attached is a flyer announcing "White Cane Awareness Day" October 15th at the Veteran's Administration in Roseburg. The flyer is straight text so that it can be used by people with visual impairments as well as people without visual impairments. If you're a DHS employee, please be sure to ask your supervisor for authority to participate. All others, please follow your own agency's protocols for participating in community based training.
