Child Abuse Prevention Partnership Meeting Minutes - April 20, 2011

Present:  Dede Henderson, Greg Henderson, Karin Hardin, Sally Joyce, Dan Miley, Diane Pietrzak, Brenda Tibbetts, Angela BPA

Meeting Minutes:  There was not a formal meeting in March, 2011 and no minutes are available for review.

Treasurer's Report:  Dede Henderson reports that the CAPP account balance is $8,764.58.  Karin submitted a bill for $399.33 to pay for the Celebrate Children flyers.  (CAPP pre-approved an expenditure up to $400 for this purpose.)

Old Business:

*         Enough is Enough Banners and signs were displayed throughout Roseburg on the weekend of April 16 and 17.

*         All April radio spots were filled and used.

*         The Douglas County Commissioners issued a Declaration that April is Child Abuse Prevention Month.

*         YMCA Healthy Kids Day was successful in both Roseburg and Canyonville.

New Business:

*         Greg Henderson reports that he and other businesses are looking into the possibility of sponsoring  a CAPP 5k run/walk .  It is in the early planning stages.

*         Wildlife Safari - Celebrate Children is planned for April 30th.  The Safari asks that agencies not use balloons, small toys or bottles of bubbles because they present danger to animals and birds who can ingest them.  Also everyone is asked to clean up after themselves to reduce the work impact on paid Safari staff.  Set up is after 9 am and the event goes from 11 am to 3 pm.

*         As part of Sexual Assault Awareness, the Walk a Miles in Her Shoes Event is being held.  It begins at 3 pm at the Courthouse.

Requests:

*         Diane Pietrzak asked that others consider serving as CAPP secretary when her current term expires on July 1st.  She plans to continue as an active member.
