Below are the minutes of the May 16th meeting. Thank you Angela for taking such complete minutes, we really covered a lot. See you all at the meeting this afternoon. Kelly Attendees: Angela Collar Jerry OSullivan Lisa Lewis Cindy Shirtcliff Karin Hardin Kelly Southern Elizabeth Drozier Beckey Denzel There is a $7,981.92 balance in the account and only 2 checks have been printed. Karin is now the official 2nd Signer. Elizabeth is the other signer. United Way is letting DCAPP meet at the current location through July. The reading of the minutes was by Jerry. Umpqua Web Design will be contacted about the calendar and services of hyperlinks. There was extensive discussion about the Poverty Conference. Especially to move ahead with an action plan for the conference. Core Team Decisions and Meeting Follow up. There will be an effort to send the minutes of the last meeting around again. The Treasurer's report was tabled without Barry. A subcommittee meeting was discussed. Terry Drusie Smith contacted Cindy and was very interested and engaged. There was discussion about turning the conference into a 2 day event. The second day consisting of Bridges in to health. CCO might share expenses. Peggy Madison would support a 2 day conference. 2100.00 for the first day 2100.00 could be picked up by a second sponsor That way only 1/2 airfair and lodging would be for each days sponsors responsibility. Perhaps Cindy's organization would take that on. Possible Titles for the conference: Poverty to Sustainability Jan - March works for Terry Drusie Smith There was a slight discussion of extending the conference to Josephine and Coos Counties, but with some reservations as well. Jerry discussed our possible venues and who do we want to target for attendance. Capacity and Venue options depended as the target attendance would govern that as well. There was suggestions to open up the registration to Douglas County for a certain time and then after open it up to the surrounding counties, depending on the agencies and interests. DHS has a registration monitor that would help track each step and provide information when it was full. First the group would decide the target. UCC was a venue that was discussed and interested in working with it. UCC could also put it in their catalog, and perhaps tap into the student body would would be interested. Discussion of Inviting Core People and connecting with them and scheduling a meeting. There was a discussion about having DCAPP start meetings at 2:30 to get planning started. It will be asked of United Way if the Meeting Place can be secured for that time. The second piece of the Conference was the interest to include Health Care Professionals and including them into the conference. For example education health care, police, and hospital - medical. It was suggested that an option would be fundraising as opposed to charging for the conference, in addition to providing monies for scholarships. There was discussion on having a detailed budget ready to create interest and the support needed. Options would be Cow Creek, Mercy, and Ford foundation as well as CCO might help. The Getting Ahead Piece entails 18 to 20 slots for $8,000, that includes the cost of the facilitator and the educational materials. The entire process would be repeated to new people involved in the program as needed through out the county. With a few ideas on the table, there was then ideas to propose these options to the community. Cindy will look for the breakdown on the $8,000.00 charge for 20 weeks and the facilitator and the food and the proposed focus group and where they would come from. The next important discussion was: Who is going to come to the next meeting? The Core Group was mapped out and people selected for this core group: Marsha Hall Pat Moore Barry Forte Diane Pieterzak Jullian Weisenburg Sharon Zawiki Judy Roberson Phillis Jagers Brenda Tibbits UCAN Mercy Foundation Cow Creek Foundation Victoria Walker Julie Hargrove Mercy Representative Hospital Side UCC Robin Vanwinkle Gwen Soderburg Chase Faith Community Susan Bewel united way roseburg rescue mission good samaratin homeless coalition salvation army umpqua community health Any other persons omitted or invited can be added in the corrections of the minutes as well as spelling mistakes for the names. An idea was put forth that there would be a power point presented to the core group... There was further discussion on when to begin this process. To Enthusiastically package the conference details and be ready to invite the core group in July. In June, the meeting will focus on the Budget building blocks....plan and flowing to what happens after in July .....if not quite ready....plan to organize the group. It was suggested to invite UCC to investigate the cost of Jacoby and the cost of catering the event. Perhaps a box lunch would be considered with the cost of drinks and lunches added in, or perhaps having Pepsi CO provide water and drinks. Would our target group attendies be about 200 to 300 people?....that is a topic that will be clarified in the planning process as well. Cindy will connect with the facilitator of the conference and get a break up of the estimated travel expenses as well as seeing if there was a way to get the lodging donated as well. So in the future there will be handouts created to show the details of the cost. Cost of the Getting Ahead model as well as a powerpoint for July's Meeting which there will invitations to the Core Group that will be packaged and presented in it's entirety. In June there will be a draft and scripts created for the July meeting. Also, the group will bring ideas for other venue options. .....ie: Fairgrounds...as there is a posibility of no registration cost.... It was also announced that United Way will approve the 2:30 to 4:30 schedule and it will be reserved for DCAPP. The next meeting will be June 20, 2012. These are the minutes for May 16, 2012 recorded, as through notes of Angela Collar. -- -- Kelly Southern, LCSW Options Counseling Services of Oregon Douglas/Coos Program Director 612 SE Jackson Street, Suite 11 Roseburg, OR 97470 541.464.6455 -- Kelly Southern, LCSW Options Counseling Services of Oregon Douglas/Coos Program Director 612 SE Jackson Street, Suite 11 Roseburg, OR 97470 541.464.6455 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
