In 2013 a poverty conference was held. We had over two hundred individuals attend. A subsequent poverty conference at this time is being explored by another community group for the spring of 2014. The Child Abuse Prevention Partnership, however, would like to design/ implement another activity to begin a long term plan to prevent child abuse. You are one of many agencies that provide for the families and children who are caught in this many times downward spiral. We would like to invite you or a representative from your agency to join us. I look forward to hearing seeing you or one of your representatives that will be attending this meeting, thank you. It is a basic logic model specific to our coalition and the types of activities we are working on. Could you send this out with the agenda for the meeting so people can get a peek at it. Thanks, Jerry O'Sullivan, MBA, CPS See below Logic Model Theory of Change When a community comes together and implements multiple strategies to address child abuse and neglect in a comprehensive manner, rates are more likely to decline. Problem Root Cause Local Conditions Strategies Activities Short Term Outcomes Intermediate Outcomes Long Term Outcomes Child Abuse & Neglect rates are too high Poverty Fewer family wage jobs - more minimum wage jobs People in poverty have not retained in jobs long term People in poverty not hired for existing jobs Addictions Mental Health Physical Criminal Business Attitude that poor people do not want to work Attitude among poor that they cannot improve their condition Agencies and Businesses assume new employees understand scheduling and have the same priorities as they do Lack of knowledge about how poverty limits the ability of parents to change conditions that contribute to Child abuse and neglect Education Bridges Conferences to reach a broad cross-section of the community - Agencies, healthcare, business community, leaders, etc Have # conferences to reach the critical sectors of the community Hold GH training for employers with ##% agreeing they will implement Hold GH Training for community members/employees with ##% demonstrating Send # delegates to the national Bridges conference who can return and act as Champions Have # employers send staff to GH TOT to use in implementation Share information about Bridges and GH with community to increase participation by employers, community members, and agencies Increase the number of people in community aware of Bridges, GH, and how poverty can be a barrier to positive change People in poverty hired for open positions at a higher rate Lower unemployment among the poor Employers are more easily able to recruit qualified staff Employers demonstrate reduced cost of training and retention Reduce the rate of child abuse and neglect in the county Training and Skill Development Getting ahead Training for Employers Getting Ahead Training for Community members Send a small contingent to National Brides Conference Send community members, agency staff and business staff to Getting Ahead Facilitator Training Collaboration Celebrate Children BARRY FORTE 541-440-3373X2073 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
