How does our group(CAPP) or any of the groups that have child abuse prevention as a goal support these protective factors
Research shows that when parents possess six protective factors, the risk for neglect and abuse diminish and optimal outcomes for children, youth, and families are promoted, preventing further abuse and neglect.
Children come from many different backgrounds and cultures. To achieve service equity, it is important to recognize these differences in order to apply the factors effectively. What works for one family may not work for another.
The six protective factors are:
* Nurturing and attachment
* Knowledge of parenting and of child and youth development
* Parental resilience
* Social connections
* Concrete supports for parents
* Social and emotional developmental well-being
