Today, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) released a set of four 5G educational videos<https://www.cisa.gov/5g-library> to enhance the awareness and importance of the safe and secure development and deployment of fifth generation (5G) infrastructure.
The transition to 5G will catalyze the development of new and improved capabilities, services, and technologies across the National Critical Functions<https://www.cisa.gov/national-critical-functions> (such as to the ability to provide wireless access network services). Those functions, in turn, support virtually every critical infrastructure sector. Along with these advancements comes an increase in vulnerabilities that malicious actors can exploit to target U.S. national security, economic security, and other national interests as well as the security interests of our global partners.
CISA brings industry, academia, government, and other stakeholders together to understand the complexity of 5G implementation and to work together to identify risks and mitigate vulnerabilities. These videos are part of CISA's plan for building national resilience through public awareness and engagement campaign. The four videos provide an overview of CISA's 5G Strategy to promote 5G security and resilience; the vulnerabilities and risks associated with 5G; the unique characteristics of 5G low band, mid band, and high band networks; and use cases for how 5G is transforming the way we communicate.
No single entity can solve the myriad of issues that 5G implementation may cause. We must all work together to ensure a more secure and resilient 5G tomorrow.
