Most of you know, with the help of a large group of stakeholders, the Board has been reviewing the CNA2 categories and training curriculums with the goal of drafting two innovative curriculums to replace the CNA2 curriculums currently approved by the Board. The two CNA2 curriculums under review, Long Term Care and Acute Care, will accompany the newly revised Core curriculum. The process to change the CNA2 curriculums began with a survey in the spring of 2013 and continues with the 2014 CNA2 stakeholder meetings. The meetings bring stakeholders together to discuss the role and duties of the CNA2 that will meet the needs of employers and promote a rewarding and lasting career for the certified nursing assistant.

During the planning of this campaign for curriculum change the Board was unanimous for the inclusion and participation of CNA2's. At this date we have a large CNA2 stakeholder group with only three CNA2 participants. We are asking all training program faculty to reach out to your CNA2 students and CNA2 graduates to encourage them to participate in the meetings that are scheduled to determine the CNA2 authorized duties. Employers are being asked to support and encourage their CNA2 employees in their participation in the CNA2 stakeholder meetings. Please let your students and employees know that the Board welcomes and needs their voice.

The process to change the CNA2 curriculums continues with meetings scheduled for February 25th, March 12th, and April 15, 2014. The CNA2 Stakeholder meetings are listed on the OSBN web page, www.oregon/osbn.org<http://www.oregon/osbn.org>, under Board Information/Public Meeting Schedule and Minutes. The Board also announces meetings using the ListSmart email service and we welcome phone calls and emails with questions regarding scheduled stakeholder meetings.
