Please see the following message from the Oregon Health Authority:



New rules regarding administrative requirements for health profession student clinical training (OAR 409-030) go into effect on July 1, 2014. These rules standardize administrative requirements in order to mitigate inconsistencies across clinical placements and to reduce cost to students while ensuring patient safety.



The standards and administrative rules were developed in response to the passage of  Senate Bill 879 in 2011 (now Oregon Revised Statute 413.435). More than 80 stakeholders, representing public and private health systems, small and large educational institutions and health profession programs, professional associations, state boards, and other interest groups, advised on the standards and rules.

In early 2015, the Oregon Health Authority will convene an advisory committee to discuss implementation of the rules and recommend any needed changes.
