Hello All:
As you know, we have removed the license verification page for nursing faculty (accessed through the OSBN public website) that included additional information on those who are now or have been appointed to a nursing faculty position (inclusive of NA, MA, and all levels of nursing programs). Various issues had come up from this information being on the license verification page which included:
* Start and End Dates that didn't match an individual's resume
* Start and End Dates that didn't match school records
* Unclear program designations (e.g. a person who teaches in more than one program at one school may have multiple listings for that school without clarity on the different programs)
* Questions about an individual who has multiple listings of appointments held over a short span of time (e.g. a faculty member who might be covering clinicals part-time at more than one program)
I have been receiving feedback from training program faculty that they were using this information and would like to have it back.
We can create a listing of faculty from our internal database which is updated every time a new instructor is approved or when a change is made, as needed. Should a member of the public have a question about the status of a particular faculty member, a public records request could be made to obtain the information from our database. Program directors can just contact Nancy or myself at any time to check on faculty approvals.
If the majority of the program directors want to have access to this list, one option may be to provide a link to open the list with a disclaimer about accuracy.
Please provide your input and a description of how you used this information, if it was of value to you. Your response is requested by May 16, 2015. The responses received by May 16, 2015 will be considered as we decide how to best meet your needs related to faculty approvals.
Thank you and let me know if you have questions. Debbie
