Hello,
We will not be updating the Interpretive Statement Employment Requirement for Certified Nursing Assistants and Certified Medication Aides found at https://www.oregon.gov/osbn/Documents/IS_EmploymentCNA_CMA.pdf and the booklets Nursing Assistants in Oregon found at https://www.oregon.gov/OSBN/Documents/Booklet_CNAs.pdf and Medication Aides in Oregon found at https://www.oregon.gov/OSBN/Documents/Booklet_CMAs.pdf to meet the August 1, 2019 rules. Information in these documents will not be relevant after August 1, 2019. The concepts will now be in the rule language.
Please refer to the Division 62 and Division 63 rules directly. The new Division 6, coming August 1st, has a more descriptive definition of CNA employment. The Secretary of State's version of the rules is always the best source. The Nurse Practice Act can be found on our website or through this link: https://www.oregon.gov/OSBN/Pages/laws-rules.aspx. To see Divisions 62 and 63, scroll down to "Oregon Administrative Rules," and search "Division 62" or "Division 63." Remember to watch for the new Division 62 rules to be posted around August 1, 2019.
* Please note that applications received prior to August 1, 2019, will be processed under the current rules. Applications received on or after August 1, 2019, will be processed under the new rules.
Please contact me with any questions.
