Hi Nono,
Thanks for starting the sharing of the toolkits. Here's the direct link to
the AskUsNow! toolkits:
http://askusnow.info/staff/marketing/students/toolkits.
At this time, the schools simply link to the service through their school,
library, or www.askusnow.info website. During a school year, we find out
how students access AskUsNow! as a part of their teacher's lesson plans and
enrichment activities. Some schools prefer to promote the service for
after school hours. This news may come from the schools themselves, or
their AskUsNow! points of contact. When a school gives feedback about
AskUsNow!, it is one of the highlights of the day because the schools
probably feel better staying anonymous.
The partnership is free thanks to the IMLS LSTA Grant, but would require
the school librarian(s) to provide chat and/or do follow-up by email, to go
along with other commitments related to marketing, meetings, and the
quality of the service.
I have to give some of the AskUsNow! partners credit for building
partnerships with their local school systems or academic departments to
better promote reference services like AskUsNow!. At the statewide level,
I work with my immediate supervisor to make AskUsNow! as visible as
possible to schools. It's a tremendous, collaborative effort that
continues to be a project in development.
