Hi Everyone,

As a follow-up about February's eForum, besides volunteers (we can never
have enough!) the eForum committee is currently looking for guest speakers.

The ALA eForum on virtual reference and emerging technologies that will be
taking place on Tuesday, 2/25 and Wednesday, 2/26/20, 10 am-6 pm EST. The
eForum is being coordinated by the RUSA RSS Virtual Reference Services and
ETS Managing Emerging Technologies and Hot Topics Committees.
The theme is "Asking for a Friend: Conversations in Emerging Tech & Virtual
Reference." This eForum is a continuation of an eForum done by RSS and ETS
in February 2019.
We are looking for "guest speakers" at the eForum. This would involve
being online for 2 hours to answer questions from the eForum attendees
about the topic(s) that you would like the attendees to focus on. Last
year, we had a guest speaker from Florida International University, Chris
Jimenez, who discussed how his library was experimenting with using Amazon
Echos to help people at his library. One of the members of the eForum
committee asked him questions, and he answered them. Chris also took
questions from the eForum attendees and answered them.
By being a guest speaker at the eForum, you will have a unique opportunity
to discuss topics that fit virtual reference or emerging technologies, and
people will benefit from learning from you. Without selling your services,
the eForum attendees will also be aware of your important role in virtual
reference services.
We have no guest speaker budget, but the perks of being a guest speaker for
the eForum include that you can do it from the comfort of your computer,
and you only have to commit two hours to the eForum. We spread it out
among two days with the hopes that people from different time zones can
attend for an hour or two. You'll also get subscribed to the eForum, and
receive a copy of all of the emails sent in during the two days.

By Tuesday, 1/28/20, please let me know if you're interested in guest
speaking at the ALA eForum. If yes, I will connect you to the appropriate
eForum committee member.

Regards,

Paul
