Hi Caitlin – Research Help Now Michigan Virtual Reference collaborative also switched to LibAnswers on Feb. 28th. You are echoing our experience exactly! I am working up a list of requests for development
to send to Springshare, but the combination of a shared system in tandem with several individual LibAnswers systems is a big part of it. We finally sorted out how to monitor only our own library while part of a shared system with 11 other libraries in our
collaborative. I am also confused about how to collect the statistics we need. LibAnswers is much different from QP. Ann

Subject: [collaborative-vr] QP to Springshare migration

Hi everyone,

I’m Caitlin Kenney, project manager for NY’s Ask Us 24/7 service. We underwent the migration to Springshare, and went live on February 28th. A couple of weeks ago, Sara asked about other libraries who are undertaking this migration,
and a few responded, but I think most of you are not migrating until May. I’m curious to know if any libraries/library systems on this list have gone live on February 28th, as we did.

The reason I ask is because I have some issues with the set-up. This migration has not been as smooth as promised. I expected kinks and issues to happen, but I am feeling very frustrated right now. Particularly I am frustrated with our
set-up model, which is currently comprised of a Shared Group System (owned by WNYLRC and contains any libraries who did not already have a pre-existing LibAnswers system) and the pre-existing group of libraries who are part of Ask Us 24/7 but work with their
already existing LibAnswers system. The functions for these two groups are completely different, and Institution Admins in the Shared Group System don’t have the same rights as those with pre-existing systems, and that has caused quite a bit of confusion.
I, as admin, also cannot access statistics and transcripts for all of the libraries in the co-op – I can only see those in the shared group system. They are also not able to access stats/transcripts for their patrons who were helped by outside libraries. I’ve
made Springshare aware of these issues, and others that come up (including the canned messages – you cannot see and use the scripts for a patron’s library), and I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing the same frustration. Perhaps we could communicate
these issues together with Springshare, to make them aware that these are features we really need.

Would anyone be interested in discussing these issues (I don’t want to complain – just discuss!) and maybe trying to work out a solution to ensure that this becomes a better service? Please let me know.
