April Respite Events Designed to Give Parents a Break

Parents can register for The Arc's free respite events next month, which are designed to give parents raising children with disabilities, mental health and behavioral health concerns a break.

Thanks to a grant from the Lane County system of Care, The Arc Lane County will host a Parents' Night Out<https://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001rIh17PsctjPY_NAdVyyG9HlUXkmEkddGtBG3eKSwznW4OnpZvRLsKwzPOXg8IzuZdw-hGAhE_Po631GONTWQb6QzQMQRJcIOUdF16MB9-P-HBsDAODVRG--yWeE2RFxYYzZ6jayj7LPWhoKR3zIStvRlGQ3RhgODydkMsj6sTKh5FkHWfCSiiQ==&c=QpS8ohUoZaDTc6gMe_f7b5g767SyPaaW67XVfsOIG7Dd2iauLU1WTA==&ch=kT7NLiG85kak-ROOXaJOjXBZPUC3yOnf66MeqUXAj-ddKFfs9qxMHA==> event on Friday, April 12 and a Kids' Saturday Social<https://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001rIh17PsctjPY_NAdVyyG9HlUXkmEkddGtBG3eKSwznW4OnpZvRLsKwzPOXg8IzuZrHAcjg4Ob_hV85ACBsHCivEMM-dLRT3dcsAF49zNMyibdqAfBKUEmxs2kvbPuSSDiLgGEQrwoXKrGkjT1U7yFupCxLyd9eJxvZDsgJzwnmlYpP3ixoiP0w==&c=QpS8ohUoZaDTc6gMe_f7b5g767SyPaaW67XVfsOIG7Dd2iauLU1WTA==&ch=kT7NLiG85kak-ROOXaJOjXBZPUC3yOnf66MeqUXAj-ddKFfs9qxMHA==> on Saturday, April 27.

Parents DO NOT have to be associated with The Arc Lane County to take advantage of these respite programs; but they must have a child (5-13 years) who experiences a disability, mental health or behavioral health challenge. Siblings are welcome to attend as well.

[cid:image008.png at 01DA7F72.F2F0AF30]<https://www.riverviewgrowth.org/>COLLABORATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING FAMILY & CAREGIVER 6-WEEK CLASS

Hosted by the Riverview Center for Growth<https://www.riverviewgrowth.org/>. The Collaborative Problem Solving(r) approach is an evidence-based method to managing challenging behavior that promotes the understanding that challenging kids lack the skill - not the will - to behave; specifically, skills related to problem-solving, flexibility and frustration tolerance.

Unlike traditional models of discipline, the CPS approach avoids the use of power, control and motivational procedures and instead focuses on collaborating with the child/ youth/ young adult to solve the problems leading to challenging behavior and building the skills they need to succeed.

Free & Web-Based for Oregon Parents!
All current classes are offered via Zoom and generously funded by the Oregon Health Authority.

WHEN: Wednesday, May 8 - June 19, 11am - 1pm
