Hello District 5 Self-Sufficiency/Child Welfare Staff and Community Partners,

Tuesday Tidbits are short, specific info bites you can use and share to increase collective knowledge of Lane County's wide-ranging community resource landscape.

Below you will find Mental and Physical Health resources being offered in and for our local community.


Through the Medicaid 1115 Waiver for Health Related Social Needs (HRSN), [cid:image006.jpg at 01DB2F8B.F9EAB5F0] OHA is now providing preventative housing supports for OHA members as of November 1st  for those who are homeless or are at risk of homelessness (Additional eligibility requirements must be met).
Housing supports may include:

  *   Rental assistance or temporary housing (e.g., rental payments, deposits, utility assistance) for up to 6 months
  *   Home modifications (e.g., ramps, handrails, environmental remediation)
  *   Pre-tenancy and tenancy support services (e.g., housing application, moving support, eviction prevention)
  *   Housing-focused navigation and/or case manager

Climate related supports became available in March 2024.
To qualify, OHP members must be in at least one of these life transitions. Additional criteria also applies for each type of HRSN service.
*         Release from incarceration in the past 12 months
*         Discharge from an Institution for Mental Disease (IMD) in the past 12 months
*         Current or past involvement in the Oregon child welfare system
*         Transitioning from Medicaid-only to dual eligibility (Medicaid and Medicare) status within the next three months or has transitioned in the past nine months
*         Being homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

  *   Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Community-Based Outpatient Treatment Services
  *   Equine-Assisted Peer Support

  *   Residential Treatment
  *   Dragonflies
  *   Peer Support in all programs
  *   Specialized groups

[cid:image015.jpg at 01DB2F8B.F9EAB5F0]The Eugene Library is offering FREE workshops to learn about the "Five Elements of Health" with Ute Hostick, certified health coach and trainer, on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. at the Downtown Library.
Each session will focus on a different topic; come to one, two or as many as you like:
Nov. 5 - Sleep
Nov. 12 - Stress
Nov. 19 - Social connection
Nov. 26 - Nutrition
Dec. 3 - Movement

About this week's workshop, Hostick says, "We all sleep, and we all know sleep is important, but why?
Discover how sleep works, what your body does while asleep, and what happens if you don't get enough.
You will also learn how to develop a pre- and post-sleep routine that may improve your energy levels and reduce many common health problems."

Please, encourage all eligible DACA recipients to take a moment and explore their ACA health care options. It's crucial for every DACA recipient to know that they can sign up starting today,
