Community Health Worker (CHW) Supervision Training through ORCHWA

Description: The ORCHWA CHW Supervisor Training is designed to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively supervise Community Health Workers (CHWs). The training will teach learners to:
*Understand the basics of the CHW model, including characteristics of CHWs, scope of CHW services, and how CHW work directly relates to health equity.
*Have expanded awareness of industry specific promising practices, qualities, and skills of effective CHW supervision.
*Understand the concept of "trauma-informed supervision" and how this approach aids in the success of CHWs and provision of CHW services.
*Explore the importance of supervisor self-care and identify effective and individualized self-care strategies.

Youth Support Specialist (PSS) Certification training through MHAAO
Dates: November 4th-8th, 2024

Description: This training is composed of mandatory 40-hours of virtual classroom instruction and some out-of-class assignments. The course is specifically tailored to fit the needs of youth and young adult peer support providers. Once completed, this training qualifies a participant to apply for the Youth Support Specialist (Peer Support Specialist) certification with the Oregon Health Authority. Participants should identify as someone who has lived experience with mental health conditions, addiction, houselessness, the foster care system, or other challenges. In order to become certified as a Youth Support Specialists with the OHA, you must be 18-33 years of age. Please see the application link for more details.

Youth Support Specialist Certification Training through Connected Lane County
Dates: November 18th-22nd, 2024

Description: Connected Lane County's Youth Support Specialist program guides youth ages 17+ through a forty-hour Oregon Health Authority (OHA) approved training tailored to the needs of youth and young adult peer support providers. This training provides participants with a comprehensive introduction to peer work and includes support methods that center on the peer's lived experiences. Those who complete this training can register with the state of Oregon as certified Youth Support Specialists (YSS). No professional experience is required; however, lived experience with mental health, addiction, or overcoming life challenges unique to youth and young adults is important.

Peer Wellness Specialist (PWS) Certification training through MHAAO
Dates: November 4th-21st, 2024

Description: The role of the Peer Wellness Specialist is to provide peer support, encouragement, and assistance to address physical and mental health needs. In order to do that, it is important that the Peer Wellness Specialist have a working knowledge of the various health care and wellness resources in their community and how to access these services and resources. Being a Peer Wellness Specialist does not require a diagnosis - it is based on personal lived experience and identity. Lived experience is a key part of the Peer Wellness Specialist role and training. As a PWS, you will draw from your own background and experience to support others in their self-directed recovery. This training is composed of mandatory 80-hours of virtual classroom instruction and some out of-class assignments. Once completed, this training qualifies a participant to apply for the Peer Wellness Specialist certification, as well as the Certified Recovery Mentor certification. Ethics and Boundaries for Peers CEU training through MHAAO
Dates: November 1st and 22nd, 2024
