Parenting Healthy Preteens<https://php.kidsintransitiontoschool.org/> is designed to help parents support their children successfully bridge the period from childhood to adolescence. This program is based on the KITS and KEEP Programs at the Oregon Social Learning Center.

Parenting Healthy Preteens (PHP) English & Spanish
PHP is an online series for parents with youth in  4th-6th grades (ages 9-12).  Join other parents and learn ways to support your preteen’s mental health, positive self-esteem, and success at home and school.

WHERE: Eugene Public Library, Bascom/Tykeson room

Hey Eugene! We have an activity to connect children across the world. Do you have a kid who would like to brighten the spirits of a child in the West Bank of Palestine? Please join us on October 4th at the Eugene Public Library from 130 to 430! We will be in the Bascom/Tykeson room writing letters to the children in a distressed village in the West Bank.

WHEN: October 12th, 10am – 1pm
WHERE: Campbell Community Center and along the Ruth Bascom Bike Path!

Bikers will meet at the Campbell Community Center before being led out on a bike ride by SHIFT to the different project sites. Pick a project offered by one of the partners to work on or check out a couple. If you don't have wheels, Parks and Open Space will have a project site just a short walk from our starting location. Tools will be provided at each site and all ages are welcome!

Join us for a screening of Cultures of Birth, a film that provides a compelling look at the cultural, social, and systemic factors shaping the journeys of Mayan mothers through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care. By highlighting their voices and stories, the film invites viewers to reflect on healthcare disparities and the importance of cultural humility in supporting diverse birthing and breastfeeding practices. Following the screening, stay for a powerful panel discussion with local birthworkers and advocates, where we’ll dive deeper into the themes of the film and explore actionable ways to advance reproductive justice, perinatal equity, and breastfeeding support in our own communities.

Eligibility: Youth ages 14 – 24, low-income, out-of-school, in-school, facing barriers to employment

The Job Training Program prepares youth for success in the workforce by addressing work expectations, promoting higher education, and providing on-the-job skills training. The goal is to link academic and occupational learning throughout each youth’s program involvement. Youth complete testing and evaluation in basic academic skills, career interests and employment aptitudes. This long-term program supports youth through the transition to adulthood. Services are provided in collaboration with other community organizations, school districts and employers to better serve each youth.
