Work requirements have been updated beginning on January 1st. SNAP recipients are now required to meet specific work requirements or meet an exemption. ODHS is offering information sessions to ensure SNAP recipients are meeting requirements to continue benefits.

Food for Lane County is holding their Spring Plant Sale! Online ordering is available now on the Food for Lane County Plant Sale web page<https://plantsale.foodforlanecounty.org/> and closes March 30th. Plants will be available for pickup at our Youth Farm site on April 3rd. All remaining plants will be available for purchase on April 4th. You can select from a variety of 135 vegetables, flowers, herbs, and berries. We accept SNAP/EBT for all edible plant starts (most flowers don't qualify) and will match up to half! When you pick up your order at the Youth Farm, we will charge your order total on your SNAP card minus the match.

Our Journey's goal is to create a cross-cultural space for both tribal and non-tribal peoples to learn, grow, share, and celebrate work that is being done inside Lane County, with an emphasis on health improvement for the Federally Recognized Tribes and our American Indian and Alaskan Native residents. This is a free and family friendly event! Registration is not required to attend the event and all are welcome. In addition, there will be a preview for the "Farm Workers' Rights Movement and Eugene Friends of the Farm Workers 1972-76 history exhibit that will be at the Springfield History Museum from July - December.

The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) Safety office will hold several virtual community listening sessions about transportation safety over the next few weeks in each region of the state. You're invited to join the online session for your region and help us make roads safer for everyone. Our partners from Portland State University will lead each session. They'll give a brief overview of the three-year plan, then split attendees into virtual breakout rooms for group discussions on safety topics, led by a facilitator. The topics will be the same at each session, but the discussions will focus on specific local issues. The Lane County 2026 Community Needs Survey is now live! This survey is meant to take 10 - 15 minutes to complete and asks about services such as housing, shelter, services for low-income housed & unhoused community members, education, employment, transportation, and health. Respondents will be asked to choose which service is most important to them and then answer subsequent questions about that area. Then, they will have an option to choose a second most important services are to answer questions about as well. The survey will also ask demographic questions to help us understand the community better. Raven is a peer-led nonprofit collective offering low-barrier, non-coercive support, survival supplies, information, and referrals to unhoused and marginalized people in Eugene. Grounded in harm reduction, mutual aid, and trauma-informed care, we meet people where they are - on the street, in crisis, or navigating systems - with compassion and dignity. The Eugene Public Library's Seed Library is available to all! Seeds are free to patrons in limited quantities so all can share. It's time again for the Food for Lane County's Community Survey. This anonymous bi-annual survey seeks feedback from our community to help us understand how and why folks are accessing food assistance, and for those who aren't but who might need support, discover how we can remove obstacles and better serve a broader population. This year, we've partnered with the University of Oregon's School of Planning, Public Policy and Management to administer the survey and supercharge our ability to process the data with a dedicated team behind it. We are hoping you can help us spread the word!

On February 9, 2026, the Eugene City Council approved Resolution 5474<https://eugene.municipal.codes/enactments/Res5474> declaring a humanitarian crisis and providing direction to staff related to support for immigrant families impacted by recent immigration enforcement actions.
City Council also reserved $50,000 in contingency funds to be made available for nonprofit organizations that support local immigrant families. Funds can be used to support immediate needs such as housing, food, transportation, health needs, childcare, and education. Submissions will be accepted from eligible organizations on a rolling basis. The Human Rights Commission (HRC) will evaluate applications and decide on grant allocation.
Eligibility criteria
1 - Be a 501(C)3 nonprofit organization serving Eugene residents.
2 - Demonstrated experience serving immigrant families or communities affected by immigration enforcement.
3 - Established financial disbursement, management system, and internal controls.
4 - Ability to verify client eligibility.
Eligible organizations can submit a special grant application<https://www.eugene-or.gov/FormCenter/Equity-and-Community-Engagement-6/Special-Human-Rights-Grants-732> to be reviewed by the HRC.

This interactive 40 hour virtual course offers a strong foundation in mediation principles and practices and will give you an insight into the world of mediation. You will gain practical tools for navigating conflict in everyday life, work, and community settings. This 5 session (8 hours each) training meets the requirements specified in ORS Chapter 36. Approximately 20,000 individuals are expected to lose SNAP benefits or experience a benefit reduction by the end of March due to not meeting the Able Bodied Adult Without Dependents (ABAWD) Work Requirements. Notices went out on March 15. Individuals who have paperless preferences may have already received their notice, including closure of SNAP benefits. If you have received one of these notices, please contact your local office as soon as possible or visit one of our ABAWD information sessions to learn more about what steps can be taken to meet ABAWD requirements.

Some properties offer units where the rent amount is based on your income, while others offer units at a fixed, reduced rate that is lower than the current market rent.
