The Physical Education Expansion K-8 Grant Applications for 2011-12 Open!


The Physical Education Expansion K-8 (PEEK-8) grant was established by the 2007 Oregon Legislature through the passage of HB 3141.  It is designed to support activities related to meeting the physical education instructional requirements for students in kindergarten through grade 8 as described in OAR 581-020-0250.  During the 2011 Legislative Session, legislators approved additional grant allocations for the 2011-12 school year.

The Professional Development Grant enables school districts and public charter schools to provide evidence-based professional development that will lead to quality physical education instruction and meet the K-8 minute requirements.  The application can be found at

The Teacher Hire Grant enable school districts and public charter schools to hire licensed physical education teachers.  It is designed to support activities related to meeting the physical education instructional requirements for students in kindergarten through grade 8 as described in OAR 581-020-0250. Grant applications are due on August 25, 2011, a completed application including signed forms is required via traditional mail (postmarked no later than August 25, 2011), and electronically by: fax, email, OR secure file transfer no later than 12:30 pm on August 25, 2011.
