<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.5pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">USERRA stands for “The Uniform Services Employment Reemployment Rights Act”. It is a federal reemployment law that protects the jobs & benefits of employees who are called
to service. From a PERS perspective USERRA provides PERS contributions for qualifying periods of service so that the employees PERS account remains whole. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.5pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Qualifying USERRA wages are considered PERS Subject Salary for IAP VC elections. If employees enrolled in IAP VC do not stop their IAP VC with PERS before beginning USERRA
leave, they will owe the IAP VC for the period of service when they return from leave.
