OBIEE users,

Many users have asked if it is possible to import (join) Excel data in OB1. Although this function is not implemented in our current OB1 setup, a very wise user (Jason Robinson) has come up with a work around.

Example setup:

The user needed to take a list (2000+ rows) of OR#’s from Excel and include them in the OBIEE data. He went to the Excel file and created a formula that would combine the OR#’s into one cell. To accomplish this task, he used a ‘textjoin’ formula.

=TEXTJOIN(";",TRUE,A1:A2459)

Example:
Info provided in Excel or Note Pad:
Cell A1: OR1234567
Cell A2: OR7654321
Cell A3: OR0000001

Turns into:
OR1234567;OR7654321;OR0000001

This can then be pasted into OB1 in the filter section.

I hope this helps users include Excel/text data in their work.

Thanks,
Aaron Wallace
